This entry is part 2 of 18 in the series A Promise Not To Break

“DAVE, it’s time,” tawag sa kanya ng floor director. Hindi siya agad nakasagot. His hands were shaking and his heart was pounding hard on his chest. He needed to calm down.

“Dave?”

“Yes, I’m coming.”

He took a deep breath. His hand clutched the violin’s neck tighter. He promised. And he will do it, even if it’s the last thing he will do. Even if it broke his heart not to be with her at this very moment.

“In five seconds,” bilin sa kanya ng floor director. Tumango siya.

“Three, two, one, go!”

Huminga siya ng malalim at pinilit ang sariling harapin ang daan-daang tao na naghihintay sa kanyang pagtugtog. As he stood there, facing all of them, he uttered a silent prayer.

“Lord, I need your miracle. We need your miracle. Please. Please save her.”

The lights went out, and the spotlight set him apart from the crowd. He positioned his violin, closed his eyes, and played. For his heart. For her.
