My Darling Brat by Louise
Isang bunsong kapatid lamang ang turing ni Luke kay Sofia. At iyon ang kinaiinis niya dahil may lihim na pagtingin siya sa binata. Kaya naman lahat ng mga babaeng napapalapit dito ay kinakalaban niya even if it means ruining Luke’s marriage to Arianne.
Dahil sa kapilyahang ginawa ay kinasuklaman at lumayo ito sa kanya. Kung kaya nagdesisyon siyang hanapin ang binata. But on her way of finding Luke, hindi ito ang kanyang natagpuan kung hindi si Vincent, tinulungan siya nitong iahon ang kanyang sarili mula sa pangungulila kay Luke.
And when Vincent asked for her hand on marriage she did not hesitated to say yes. Nasa ayos na ang lahat nang biglang nagpakita ulit si Luke sa kaniyang buhay! Hindi para singilin siya sa kaniyang pagkakamali kundi para bawiin siya mula kay Vincent.
Sino ang pipiliin ni Sofia? Si Luke na kaniyang unang minahal ngunit ang siya mismong tumanggi sa kaniyang pag-ibig? O si Vincent na walang hini-hinging kapalit kundi ang kaligayahan niya?

NO! Ma, I won’t go home until na makita at makausap ko si Luke.” desididong sagot ni Sofia sa kaniyang ina na nasa kabilang linya ng telepono.
Hindi na niya hinintay pang sumagot ito dahil agad niyang pinatay ang cellphone. Tototohanin niya ang sinabing iyon sa kanyang ina na hindi talaga siya uuwi hangga’t hindi niya nahahanap si Luke. Kailangan niyang magpaliwanag dito kung bakit nagawa niya ang ganoong bagay, kailangan niyang humingi ng tawad.
Itinabi muna niya sa gilid ng kalsada ang kotse nang may makita siyang matandang babae na mukhang papauwi galing sa paglalako ng kung ano man sa kaniyang bilao. Dito siya magtatanong kung malayo pa ba ang kanyang pupuntahang lugar. Ayon kasi sa kaibigan niya na nakakita kay Luke, walong oras lang daw ang byahe mula Maynila hanggang sa Santiago City. Ngunit siyam na oras na siyang naglalakbay kaya’t minabuti na lang niya ang magtanong.
“Ale, pwede ho bang magtanong?”
Napatigil naman ang matanda sa paglalakad nang marinig siya. “Ano yun ‘neng?”
“Malayo pa ho ba ang Santiago City mula rito?”
“Santiago na ito ‘neng kaya nga lang kung sa Centro ang tinutukoy mo, mga limang minuto pa galing dito.” paliwanag nito sa kakaibang accent.
“Salamat ho.” aniyang isinaradong muli ang bintana at muling bumalik sa daan.
Santiago City na pala ang lugar na ‘to pero bakit parang hindi siyudad? Puro bukirin at mga puno kasi ang nakikita niya sa kapaligiran. Maya-maya pa ay natanaw niya na ang mga kulay berdeng ilaw sa gilid ng daan na animo’y mga lampara, kasabay nun ay nadaanan niya ang isang di kalakihang karatula na nagsasabing ‘Welcome to Santiago City’.
So, this is it, ito na siguro ‘yung sinasabi ng ale na Centro. Nagpalinga-linga siya sa paligid. Kakaunti na lamang ang mga taong naglalakad sa labas. May mga lugawan at lechon manukan sa tabi kung saan ang karamihan ng mga tao’y sila-sila ring mga nagtitinda na may iilang mamimili. Kanya-kanya ang tawag ng mga ito sa bawat taong dumaraan sa harapan ng kanilang tindahan.
Sa di kalayuan ay natanaw naman niya ang karatula ng Chowking, bigla tuloy siyang nakaramdam ng gutom. Tiningnan niya ang relong pambisig, alas-nueve na ng gabi. Kaya naman pala nagugutom na siya, ni hindi niya man lang nagawang huminto sa mga kainan na nadaraanan niya sa bundok kanina sa takot na abutin siya ng dis-oras ng gabi. Naisipan niyang doon nalamang kumain, total, beinte kwatro oras naman ang sabi sa karatula nito.
